Constellation NewEnergy Named Electricity Supplier of Choice By Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut
09/19/2005

BALTIMORE, MD Constellation Energy (NYSE:CEG) today announced that its subsidiary, Constellation NewEnergy, has been selected as the electricity supplier of choice by the Manufacturing Alliance of Connecticut (MAC).

Constellation NewEnergy was chosen by MAC for its competitive pricing, reliability and flexibility. Constellation and MAC partnered to bring manufacturers throughout Connecticut an exciting and unique offer that will help association members stabilize energy costs in a rising market. Forty-four MAC members, with a combined load of approximately 33MW, have already taken advantage of the offer.

We are delighted that Connecticuts largest manufacturing trade association, representing over 600 manufacturers, has selected Constellation NewEnergy as its electricity provider and we look forward to providing competitively priced electricity products to members, said Michael Kagan, vice president, Constellation NewEnergy, New England. Constellation NewEnergy serves several other associations throughout New England and the offerings we provide are customized to fit each associations unique membership needs and requirements.

MAC was the first aggregator in Connecticut to register with the Department of Public Utilities Control in 1999. It is also the first aggregator to offer members an electricity procurement program.

Since 1998 when the deregulation bill passed we have waited for the statute and the market to be aligned in a manner that allowed a beneficial aggregation project, said Frank Johnson, president of MAC. The time has come and we are thrilled to partner with Constellation NewEnergy. This will be the first significant electric pool created in Connecticut and we expect it will continue to grow as manufacturers work to avoid price volatility in the coming years. This program offers a desirable price, cost stability, reliability and flexibility; four necessary components in any successful aggregation project.
